Roadworthy & Safety Certificates

Roadworthy Sunshine Coast

In Queensland, a safety certificate (also known as a roadworthy certificate) is required when selling a registered vehicle or transferring registration to a new owner. This certificate ensures that the vehicle meets safety and environmental standards set by the state government. A roadworthy inspection includes a thorough check of the vehicle’s brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, lights, and other essential components to ensure that they are in good working order. Without a current RWC, a vehicle cannot be legally sold or transferred on the Sunshine Coast. It’s important to have your vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic to ensure that it meets all necessary standards and is safe to drive on the road.

what our customers had to say

Why do I need a roadworthy certificate?

A roadworthy certificate is essential to acknowledge that your vehicle is safe and well-maintained for all road users. It is required by law when selling a registered vehicle or transferring registration to a new owner. As stated in the paragraph above, the certificate is physical evidence that the vehicle meets safety and environmental standards set by the state government of Queensland.

Not only does it give peace of mind to the driver and passengers, a roadworthy certificate also ensures that your car is safe and in working order. In addition, having a current roadworthy certificate can increase the resale value of a vehicle and avoid potential legal issues.

How long is a roadworthy certificate valid for?

In Queensland, a roadworthy certificate is valid for 2 months or 2000km (whichever comes first) from the date of issue. This means that if you are selling a registered vehicle or transferring registration to a new owner, you will need to obtain a current roadworthy certificate that is no more than 2 months old. After this period, a new certificate will be required.
